Travel Tips To Paraty

Planning a trip to Paraty? Here’s what you need to know!

  • Paraty is hot, keep your summer clothes handy. I would suggest a light cardigan, if you’re someone who is very sensitive to cold, so you’ve got something for the evenings or you decide to do a boat tour, but you can get away with shorts and t-shirt.

  • Wear your jandals/flip flops/thongs (whatever you call it in your country). I would suggest against wearing shoes and socks, as whilst you may be asleep, the town centre floods during the day, but you probably will be out and about when it floods in the evening. It’s easier to walk through the water in jandals or at least take them off and walk bare feet.

  • If you don’t have a pair of jandals, don’t worry, there is a big Havainas store and a few of the smaller pharmacies and other stores along the walk back to your hotel, stock Havainas as well.

  • Do the boat tour! You must. You go to some of the most pristine beaches and swimming spots.

  • Carry medication or whatever it is you keep at hand for motion sickness, as I can guarantee you that on the bus ride there you are likely to feel sick.
